Energy Use Per Capita - Unit 2 Project
Recently, I have done a Google search as a tool to compare my energy consumption to other families around the world. As you can see, in 2009, the per capita for the world is from 1500< x<2000. This is way more than my family consumes in a month. The majority of people in 8B has consumed more than what I have which is surprising. They even reach in the thousands which is sort of relevant and close to the data above. As a result, the world per capita has consumed in the thousands whereas my family has consumed below a thousand Kwh. For one person in my family, he/she consumes around 159Kwh which is quite low.

Unit 1 Blog Post
-->UNIT 1: EXPLORING and COMMUNICATING MATHEMATICS
-->
Previous learning is necessary to study integrated math as for unit 1, you need to know what perimeter, area, exponents, order of operations, knowing the names of polygons, as you would have a hard time solving integrated math problems. For example, if you know what perimeter and area means and how to find them, you can easily use algebra tiles, and variable expressions. If you know what perimeter and area means, then you can use algebra tiles as a source of tool to help you understand area, perimeter and the distributive property. Unit 1 also includes exponents so if you know what exponents are, you can easily find patterns and variable expressions. If you don’t know the concept of exponents, you might have trouble seeing what are the like terms. Order of Operations is also a significant concept for integrated math as you may have trouble expanding an equation full of brackets, symbols (like multiplication, exponents, division, and so on), variables and numbers. Knowing the names and the categories for polygons is important in integrated math as in integrated math; you are also studying geometry and equations. An example that signifies the importance of geometry in integrated math is to find a polygon with same length, you need to use tick marks, lower case letters, variable expressions to express the same side lengths. Also you need to find the surface area, volume, area, perimeter, etc. as it is an important skill in integrated math, which is included in Unit 9. So what do you think, is previous knowledge important to study integrated math?
This is my math project:
Thinking Creatively and Communicate Effectively is shown in this project as this idea behind my project is indeed creative. It is creative because I have used the idea of a globe and added mathematical symbols on it to show that math shapes our world and that math is used in almost everything. Another evidence which shows my creativity in this project is I have used Google images and added them in this project. Although my project look's "out of shape", I have used my imagination and planned everything out. I am also communicating effectively in this project as I have organized my plan and clarified my ideas in my mind. In my written part, I have wrote clear passages and stayed on topic all the time. My passages are easy to understand so the readers will be able to not be confused.
For my work habits in Unit 1, I would say that I was good as I turned in most of the homework assignments and projects on time. Although I forgot to do my homework once, I have participated class very well with the class activities. For my effort on my project, I gave myself 100% effort as I am very prepared at did my first draft to be ready for the final project. I realize that I have forgot to put my name on my logo although other than that, I had a creative idea which was putting all the symbols on my "little square globe" and my written response was very descriptive. Next time, I will read the instructions more carefully and put my name on the project.

Triangle Thriller
THERE ARE 64 TRIANGLES!!!
I have found out that there are 64 triangles because as you can see my picture, the numbers signify the amount of triangles so if you just count all of them, you get 64.

Year-Long Advanced Algeo Project
Here is my table...

The environment impact that I chose was electrical consumption. I am choosing this one because for me, I think it's very easy and efficient than the others. Using electricity in a long period of time can have a huge impact on our society and our planet. Generally, burning fossil fuels like coal, natural gas and so on produces electricity. Electricity can be created from dams, and rivers that don't really create harmful emissions. But burning fossil fuels to make electricity yields carbon dioxide and other emissions, which then get stacked in the greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. If there is too much greenhouse gas, there will be global warning and it could create open "holes" in the atmosphere, which could let the sun radiation harm you.
My family's habits aren't as that bad as other people as we don't use that much air conditioner, and we don't really watch that much of television. For my brother and I, we use electricity to play video games on the weekend for around 2 hours every week. We only consume about 50 kilowatts on an average basis of 2 hours, which plays around 8% of the total amount of kilowatts that our family had consumed. Other than that, our electricity habits are using our computers, using fans, watching television, turning on lights, and so on. This habit also applies to our parents although they do more work using electricity, they don't play any video games, they use cooking appliances, and so on. The amount of energy used by doing school homework differs depending on how much homework we have. On some days when I get lots of homework, I spend more than 3 hours working on my computer. But normally, I would work about an hour and a half and so far in this month, our family has consumed around 132Kwh. According to my data, in a month my family has consumed around 636 Kwh. I think that this is quite low as other people's average consumption might even be in the thousands! Some things that my family can change are really turning off the fan if it is on. In several occasions, in the living room, the fan is on but nobody turns it off but me. I just go and check all the fans so that if it is on, I can turn it off and make a difference. Also another thing to change is to turn off the computer at night or if nobody uses it. Once, when my family was coming back from Singapore form a 3-day holiday, we saw the computer on when we came back and we were extremely shocked. The difference between the amount of electricity used by fans vs. my air conditioner is 164 Kwh. Since our family uses fans more than air conditioners, I am not surprised that the difference is huge. The fans were used around 300Kwh and the air conditioners were used 136Kwh. Our family uses about 1 air conditioner at least a month, as we have to put it on at least 4 hours on a week. They are set at least from 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit, as the room that the air conditioner is in has to be cool so that when my teachers come to my house to teach me, they can feel the good breeze and air. If guests come, we normally turn on about 3 air conditioners at a lower temperature like 21 degrees Celsius as it is our job to make the guests comfortable as possible.
On the top of this text is my August electricity bill.
List of Top 5 Appliances that is consumed that most:
1. Fridge
2. TV
3. Lights
4. Fans
5. Video Games
#1 This is a picture of the fridge and I. This is number one on my list as you can NEVER turn off the fridge unless if there isn't any food in there or that it's broken. You can't turn off the fridge if there is food as the food will be spoilt.
#2 - TV. (This is my living room TV). TV is one of the appliances in my family's house that we use electricity the most. My family uses TV as a source of entertainment and knowledge as we watch mostly sports, not cartoons.
#3- This is one of the lights that are available in my house. Lights are used to "brighten" our days, let us see things clearly, and so on but if we don't turn these off, then it becomes a pain in the neck and there might be a higher chance that global warming might happen. (p.s: I just turned the lights off!)
#4 -Fans are also one of the devices that we consume the most as whenever my family sleeps, we use the fan, NOT the air conditioner. Using a fan uses less energy and electricity than an airconditioner which is quite more eco-friendly.
#5- This device that is shown in this picture is called an "X-box". It is a gaming console and this is one of the top 10 appliances that is used the most as my brother and I use this around 2 hours on the weekends as we are banned to play games on weekdays. This is another source of entertainment as my brother and I play xbox for fun and for enjoyment.

How Many Squares?
According to the blog puzzle, there are 40 squares in total for the blog puzzle. I don't really understand the statement "A square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square." although I just counted the squares. Here's a picture of the colored ones.
